Competition Rules & Regulations

1. Competition Categories
Bhangra Categories
• Open Category – Boys (FOLK LIVE)
• Open Category – Girls (FOLK LIVE)
• Open Category – Open Music (Boys / Girls / Co-Ed)
• Under 15 – Folk Bhangra (Folk Recorded Track) (Boys / Girls / Mix)
Giddha Categories
• Under 15 – Giddha (Live)
• Open Giddha Category (Live)
2. Age Criteria

Cut – off date for Under 15 Category is 1st January 2011.

Example:
All participants born on or after 1st January 2011 are eligible to compete in the Under-15 category.

Valid government-issued photo ID is mandatory for all participants. ID checks will be conducted on the
day of the competition. Any participant found in the wrong age category will lead to disqualification
of the team.
3. Judging & Scoring
Judging will be fair, transparent, and unbiased. Judges’ decisions will be final and binding. No score
revisions or re-judging requests will be entertained.
4. Team Meetings
TFA will conduct mandatory team meetings with judges before and after the competition to explain
rules, judging criteria, and provide feedback if required. Attendance is compulsory for all teams.
5. Code of Conduct
All teams, coaches, and supporters must maintain discipline, respect, and sportsmanship. Any form
of misbehavior or disrespect toward judges, organizers, or other teams may result in penalties or
disqualification.
6. False Allegations & Legal Action
No false allegations, misleading statements, or accusations against judges, organizers, or TFA will
be tolerated. This includes verbal statements, written communication, and content posted on social
media platforms before or after the competition. Any individual or team found making false claims
will face strict legal action and will be liable to pay AUD $4,000 in damages and legal costs as per
Queensland (QLD) laws.
7. Music, Props & Performance Rules
Teams must strictly follow the music format assigned to their category. No props will be provided by
TFA. Use of inappropriate lyrics, gestures, or unsafe props may result in immediate disqualification.
8. Responsibility & Liability
TFA is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, costumes, props, or
property during the event.
9. Venue Damage
Any damage caused to the venue, stage, dressing rooms, or surrounding property by any team or
individual will result in strict legal action. The responsible party will bear all repair and legal costs.
10. Team Composition
Minimum and maximum team members will be announced separately. A participant cannot perform
in more than one team within the same category.
11. Registration & Fees
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Incomplete or late registrations may be
rejected.
12. Media & Promotion Rights
TFA reserves full rights to record, photograph, and use all performances for promotion, media, and
future events. Teams cannot claim ownership of official TFA media content.
13. Organizer Rights
TFA reserves the right to amend rules, change schedules, or take disciplinary action in the best
interest of the competition.
14. Acceptance of Rules
By registering for the competition, all teams agree to accept and follow all TFA rules and regulations
without exception.
